GOAL-SETTING IN SOCIAL WORK INTERVENTIONS: THEORY AND TECHNIQUES

A goal-setting technique could be considered as one of the modern tools client-centered social work. Such techniques are designed to motivate and direct client achieve a specific goal result. The paper systematizes academic approaches understanding theory setting, defines specifics its practical use in work, presents setting that have been tested part structured interventions for clients who difficult life circumstances motivated change them.The elaboration work must based on goals, by their very nature, more attainable accessible than wishes, intentions or dreams. Their formulation may reduced perspective cannot simple process, since it requires such goals tasks («Wheel balance», various visualizations discussions; «Map achievement goals», «Suitcase goals»), well implementation steps them (diaries, weekly maps, skill trackers, coaching, etc.).As evidenced literature review, authors’ own experience, results other applied studies, contains ideas concepts consistent with basic principles professional It suggests worker together find differences client's current state outcome he she is striving for. reveals stimulates activity, initiative motivation clients, encourages choice forms sense responsibility this choice, thus strengthens client-centeredness
